In some circumstances, you may need to use a different version of PHP for specific domains. You can set a specific version of PHP using the MultiPHP Manager by following one of the procedures below.

Steps to change your PHP Version:

  1. Log into cPanel
  2. Under Software click MultiPHP Manager
  3. Make a note of your current version!
  4. Select an updated version of PHP and click Apply
  5. Visit your site to confirm that the change has not broken your site.
  6. If the site is broken, you can switch back to the previous PHP version

Generally, PHP 7 is considered the most reliable option. While it is possible to opt for a newer version or even a beta release with advanced features, the potential increase in performance is usually outweighed by the potential decrease in stability. The significant performance improvement was observed when transitioning from version 5.6 to 7.0, but any subsequent upgrades have been less remarkable in terms of noticeable performance gains.
