How it works
1. Unlock it
At your current registrar, turn off the transfer lock. It is usually a switch called “Domain lock” or “Transfer lock.”
2. Get the code
Ask that registrar for the transfer code. It is also called an EPP code, auth code, or authorization code.
3. Start it here
Enter your domain and the code on our transfer page and pay $25.
4. Sit tight
Approve any email your old registrar sends. We email you the moment it lands. Most finish within a week.
Before you start
- Is it at least 60 days old? New and recently moved domains are locked for 60 days.
- Can you get the owner email? Your registrar sends the code and notices there. Update it first if it is an old address.
- Write down your DNS. Screenshot or export your DNS records. We copy them too, but a backup costs nothing.
- Privacy on? Most registrars allow transfers with privacy on. Turn it off only if yours asks.
Why move it here?
We don’t profit on domains
Registration is priced near what it costs us, and $8 renewals are below it. Hosting pays our bills, so we never need to squeeze you on renewal.
Yours to keep
The domain is registered in your name. Leave any time and take it with you. No lock-in, no hostage domains.
One place, one person
Domain, DNS, website, and email in one spot, with a real person on the phone: (720) 722-3227.
Where is it now?
Each registrar hides the unlock switch and code in a different spot. Their guides: GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace (old Google Domains), IONOS (1&1), Bluehost, Web.com, Enom.
GoDaddy: with Domain Protection on, expect an identity check before it unlocks. IONOS: changing owner details can lock the domain for days, so start the transfer first.
Questions
How much does it cost to transfer a domain?
It costs $25. That includes one more year of registration, added to the time you already have left. After that, it renews for $8 a year.
How long does a transfer take?
Most transfers finish within 5 to 7 days. Some registrars let you approve the transfer right away from their dashboard or an email, which can finish it in a day or two.
Will my website or email go down?
No. Your site and email keep using the same DNS settings during the move. We copy your records before anything changes, so visitors and mail never notice.
Why can’t I transfer a domain I just bought?
Domain rules lock a name for 60 days after it is registered or transferred. Once that time passes, you can move it.
Why no star ratings?
Review sites sell badges and “accreditation” to the businesses they rate. We’d rather show you real sites we’ve built and give you a phone number a person answers. Call us, and judge for yourself.
Want us to handle it?
Tell us the domain and where it lives now. We will walk you through it or do it with you.
